What is Pollution?

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution.

Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odour in harmful amounts. That is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials

Noise Pollution

Noise pollution is the harmful or annoying levels of noise, as from airplanes, industry, etc.

 

 

Land Pollution

Land pollution is the deterioration (destruction) of the earth’s land surfaces, often directly or indirectly as a result of man’s activities and their misuse of land resources.

Water Pollution

Water pollution is the contamination of natural water bodies by chemical, physical, radioactive or pathogenic microbial substances.
